We are expected in Hanoi no later than April 29th. Since we lose a day during travel we will leave on April 27th. We are very excited and in the process of booking flights, hotel accomodations and of course some excursions outside of the city. After much thought we decided to leave Stella in the care of Meme and Grampsie (Cathy and Lanny). They generously offered and we accepted. We are looking forward to giving Hadley our undivided attention and seeing more of Vietnam than we would be able to with 2 kids in tow. It was by no means an easy decision but neither Chris nor I are looking back.
We received notice today that Hadley is in foster care. I believe it must be better than in the orphanage.

Our journey to where we are now....waiting for travel dates!
2 years ago Chris and I decided to adopt a baby from China. We were referred to Plan Loving Adoptions Now (PLAN) by other adoptive parents. It took us nearly a year to complete the pre-adopt coursework/class, homestudy and pull together all the documents that collectively is known in the international adoption world as a dossier. Once completed the dossier had to reviewed, certified and authenticated at the domestic level before it was sent to a Chinese man in Canada for translation. It was finally logged into the CCAA (China Center for Adoption Affairs) in on December 22, 2005. At that time we were told the wait for our referral would be around 7 months. Well, that wait grew to 2 years. Many of the dossier requirements expire after 12-18 months and in January 2007 we were faced with the decision to renew and recommit to China. Knowing that the wait may continue to grow we decided to switch to the Vietnam program. With the help of the folks at PLAN we pulled together a whole new dossier, by no means an easy task, and hand delivered it to PLAN on January 23, 2007. In return they gave us a referral of a 4 month old baby in Hanoi, Vietnam-Nguyen Hoai Linh. This gift of course was a complete surprise. Since then our dossier has been certifed, authenticated and was delivered to Dr. Hong (PLAN's Vietnam representative in Hanoi on February 14, 2007. Once there it was attached to all of Hoai Linh's information and sent through the various stages of investigation and certification at the provincial level. We are told that process is nearly complete and we will then receive our travel dates.
